It’s been a while…..

I haven’t posted anything on the blog for a while!  So what have I been up to?

Well, firstly I’ve enjoyed an extended Summer break with the boys.  It was great to recharge the batteries and enjoy some sunshine (although it now seems a distant memory!)  We stayed one week at the fabulous Grupotel Macarella in Cala’n Bosch, Menorca and a second week at the db Seabank in beautiful Mellieha Bay, Malta.  Some much needed rest and relaxation but I did miss a decent cup of coffee!  Must pack the Aeropress next time!

So what else have I been up to?…..

I’ve been busy baking cupcakes and revisiting some of my favourite recipes for the blog.  I will be posting recipes very soon for chocolate, coffee & walnut, lemon, oreo, chocolate orange, toffee apple and Reese’s peanut butter cup cupcakes (among others!)

I continue my quest for the best cups of coffee around!  I’m delighted to have found some new independent coffee shops to visit and review.  I’m very excited by the opening of Station 86 in Gowerton as this is fairly local to me.  Look out for the review soon.

I have started Barista School at 200 degrees in Cardiff.  So far I’ve attended the basic and intermediate barista skills and home brewing courses.  I have picked up lots of useful tips that have really improved my coffee making skills and have met some very lovely coffee geeks along the way!  I will be blogging about my progress.

As it is now Autumn, the rugby season is upon us and it is a very busy time in the Rees household!  We will be continuing to support the reigning Pro 12 champions, the Scarlets.  The Barista Baker is now a player sponsor!  Look out for a profile of our sponsored player Tom Williams coming soon.

So as you can see I have been busy.  Time to get blogging again…..
