Autumn

One thing I love about living in this part of the world are the distinct seasons. Although I spent most of September pining for the fabulous sunshine we enjoyed during the Summer, I have now fully immersed myself in Autumn! To me, Autumn is when Mother Nature is at her most beautiful. A walk around my local area yesterday demonstrated this, with the breathtaking array of colours on the leaves of the trees. Although I’m always sad to pack away my flip flops as Autumn approaches, I do enjoy layering up on a cold, crisp day. And with the evenings drawing in, it’s completely acceptable to put your pyjamas on as soon as you get in from the school run, right?!
Autumn is the time we celebrate Halloween and this year I’m looking forward to visiting ‘Gower Fresh Christmas Trees’ as they are having a Pumpkin Party! During half term they will be opening the Halloween Barn for pumpkin carving, broom decorating and entertainment, as well as toffee apples, sweets, food, drink and face painting. You can even meet the reindeer or choose and label your Christmas tree! Tickets are available at www.gowerfreshchristmastrees.co.uk
But the best thing about Autumn has to be the flavours. This is the time I get to bake with all of my favourite warming spices….. cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, mixed spice etc. I have been busy in the kitchen and in the next couple of weeks I will be posting recipes for Gingerbread Cake, Cinnamon Buns, Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes, Pumpkin Spice Latte, Apple & Cinnamon Gin plus anything else that takes my fancy!
