The Stowaway

A couple of weeks ago I visited the beautiful seaside town of Tenby.  The purpose of my visit was to spend some of my Birthday money and Grand National winnings on Gin at ‘The Cranny’ (Pembrokeshire’s Gin Palace).  Mission accomplished!  But whilst in town I wanted to also find some decent coffee.

Cranny

My pre trip research had uncovered ‘The Stowaway’.  A small, independent coffee shop set in a Grade 2 listed Arch near Tenby harbour (2 Penniless Cove).  This is a really quirky spot to grab a coffee to sit in or take to the beach.  With sandy dogs and scruffy children welcome, I felt quite at home!  I opted for my usual flat white, made with their own blend of coffee beans called ‘The Monkeys Fist’!  I enjoyed this al fresco as I took in the views of the harbour.

At The Stowaway they serve the usual range of hot drinks, as well as herbal teas, hot chocolates and ‘tipples’ (Hot Rum Toddy, Irish coffee, Brandy or Baileys hot chocolate), plus cold drinks including craft beer or cider.  If you fancy a bite to eat there are cakes, flapjacks, crab sandwiches, Welsh rarebit paninis, artisan scotch eggs and snacks such as ‘salty dog nuts’, crisps, seeds, olives etc.  Exclusive to The Stowaway is ‘Mary’s Farmhouse ice-cream’, locally made and including the usual flavours plus specials such as chilli chocolate!
