Gower Seafood Hut

Yes! I have deviated away from coffee and cake for this post but I wanted to share this gem of a foodie business with you all.
Newly opened and situated on the Mumbles Seafront at Southend (in between the crazy golf and children’s park) is Gower Seafood Hut. It’s run by Chris Price and Sarah Kift and is open daily from midday to dusk. They serve fresh, hot, local seafood from a converted horsebox! The menu includes Calamari, Whitebait and Fritto Misto all priced at £5 for a 200g portion. There’s also Plaice Goujon (£5 for 150g) and Dressed Crab (1 for £8, 2 for £15). I went for the Fritto Misto, which is a mix of Whitebait, Sardines and Squid deep fried with Samphire and a lemon wedge and served with homemade Tartare. This dish is inspired by the owners travels in Bologna and it certainly inspired me! Seafood is my favourite non coffee or cake item! and I usually choose seafood dishes when I visit restaurants, so was very eager to try this! It did not disappoint! The dish is fried fresh in front of you and served in a box with your choice of freshly ground salt & pepper, lemon and Tartare. Sitting on the Mumbles front on a beautiful day eating this, I could have easily been anywhere in the World. All produce is from local suppliers (they also serve bread from Little Valley Bakery in Parkmill and the famous Gower Cottage Brownies from Reynoldston). The hut can be hired for weddings, festivals and corporate events and is also a regular sight at local events such as the Uplands local produce market and Street Food Friday.
A welcome addition to the Mumbles food scene! I will be back!
